Tim Blair, BA, LMT, NCBTMB, RMTI, Introduction to Chair Massage
Tim began massage training in Seattle in 1987 before moving to Santa Fe in 2001 to complete the program at the Scherer Institute of Natural Healing. He has been connected with the school since graduation as a teaching assistant, supervisor of community outreach events, and instructor. His full-time career in massage began with private practice in 2002, and as part of the original team of therapists for the ShaNah Spa at The Bishops Lodge Resort in Santa Fe, where he is now Lead Therapist.
The qualities exhibited by Scherer graduates – professionalism, ethics, honoring the best in themselves and their clients, as well as the completeness of their technique – are some of the qualities he values when interviewing applicants. Tim began teaching chair massage because of his enthusiasm for making high quality massage more accessible, especially to people who’ve yet to receive massage. Chair massage may be employed in a range of situations public and private, and Tim feels that the opportunity for someone to receive their first massage from a Scherer graduate makes it likely that they’ll happily include massage as part of their self-care practice.
