Jay Alderson, MS, OTR/L, LMT Pathophysiology

Jay has been teaching Anatomy & Pathophysiology for thirteen years and is in his tenth year teaching for the Scherer Institute. He is a graduate of the Scherer Institute. "One of the most significant aspects of being a teacher is the opportunity to learn. Growth is a reflection of learning. The students at Scherer, combined with life experiences and faith in God, continue to provide tremendous growth potential for me as an instructor."

Jay owns his own occupational/massage therapy business: LifeReach Therapy Services, LLC. He uses massage skills in his OT work with Developmentally Delayed (DD) adults and children. He enjoys the creative challenges presented in his work to help improve cognitive and physical skills in his clients. Jay has also donated hundreds of hours and dollars to the improvement of quality of life for the DD population.

Jay is the father of three teenagers. When not working, he spends time with the woman of his dreams, cooks meals for the homeless, plays the electric bass, gardens, and likes to take his Jeep mountain climbing and mudding. He is a successful artist and furniture builder.
