Known as the Land of Enchantment, people are often drawn to New Mexico with its sunny blue skies and inspiring vistas of grand mountain ranges. Imagine, you can live here while pursuing your dream! The high-desert offers the delights of sunshine (about 300 days per year) and low humidity without the high heat of the lower elevations. From river rafting to skiing, the magical Sangre de Cristo mountains and expansive desert offer a haven for the body, mind, and soul.
If you are among the students who are coming from out-of-state or another country, we have composed an e-packet of information to assist you in your transition. Please contact us at info@schererinstitute.com if you would like this re-location information, or if you have other questions concerning the area. We also recommend that you research the Chamber of Commerce website at www.santafechamber.com. It’s our greatest desire that your move to the "City Different" be an enchanted one!
Our students find inspiration in this environment as well as the support of Santa Fe’s community orientation to the healing arts. Those pursuing the fullest potential of their education could not ask for a better location.
"March in the southwest has been fabulous by my Vermont standards. At this latitude and altitude, I have experienced temperatures with few if any flakes of snow. This month I have been hiking. I discovered the results of desert erosion during a hike near Bernalillo (which is between Santa Fe and Albuquerque). The red and brown sandy soils have been artistically carved by heat and water-- a breathtaking site. Another adventure led me to a sacred place called Tent Rocks. This is a national monument. As I walked along the trail, I wondered what it might have been like to discover the landform as a Native American or early European settler. Volcanic activity created conical shaped sandstone, which emerged from the desert land; it's extraordinary."
